Autofrühling

I used the sunny Sunday for a test drive to Braunschweig city. The "Autofrühling" is mainly about the exhibition of new cars of various brands, but there is also a little vintage meeting in the historical part of the city.

Bus is running again

After a complete overhaul of the Weber carburetors and the reduction of the fuel injection, the bus runs better than ever before! Thanks to Bjarne for all the help!

Weber

My engine is still not running, but we are on the trail of the problem! A few buddies helped me out last weekend, we checked some more things and also took care of the Weber carburetors. There's far too much fuel in it. Of course, various spare parts were missing, but a carburetor overhaul kit has now been ordered...Cheers guys for the help!

 

Engine still not running

My engine is still running very badly. It eats far too much oil and stalls. I have replaced the spark plugs, checked the ignition sparks, checked the injection of the carburetors, replaced the fuel and the idle jets. I also checked the compression, but found nothing that explains the problems.

Engine problems

My T1 bus broke down with severe backfires 2 weeks ago. It isn't running since then as I can't find the reason. The engine is fairly new, but somehow it never ran really well. I took it to the workshop where I bought it last year to adjust the engine and carburetors, to fix a lose back wheel and to do some TLC. A few month later I got it back with a missing shock bolt, a fixed wheel bearing but still broken wheel hub and still not well running engine! So the problems were basically the same as before after waiting a few month and spending a 4-digit amount of money. I was fairly disappointed, especially when the owner forbid me to ever show up again at his workshop after I asked (for the 4th time in several weeks) to at least get my parts back that were left there! 

So I don't have an engine builder of my trust anymore...again! Next week I will have to take the daily to Bulli Summer Festival in Wesel....again!

Last ride of the year

I have a seasonal licence plate ending end of October. Luckily Bjarne was able to sort out a couple of issues on my bus just in time, so I could drive the bus home last weekend, without trouble for the first time in two years, and without a trailer! Thx buddy!

Bus @ Bjarne

My friend Bjarne offered me to have a look after my still loose wheel bearing. He picked up the split on Monday afternoon and already presented the problem on Tuesday morning: the toothing of the rear wheel hub is just worn out. So the loose wheel bearing was just the indication and not the cause! The workshop before had the bus for 3 months without finding and/or solving this problem...

Bjarne drives a split bus as well and restored it all by himself. He works as an employed motor mechanic, but I'm sure he will have his own workshop one day! With 23 years he has enough time to evolve! I'm pretty impressed and will be one of his first customers for sure! Well, at least if he proves to be as good in assembling like he is in disassembling...:)

Oldtimerschmiede

Brought the bus to the Oldtimerschmiede in Hattorf today with help and trailer of Heckkraftcustom Olly! Olly told me my bus is too low....Never thought I would ever hear that, from Mr. Lowdown himself! :). Bus has a loose backwheel, and not so well running engine and needs some pre-seasonal TLC! I hope for a quick recovery.
